I landed in the place of love and joy, ready and excited to travel! The 24hour flight, that felt never ending, squishy, and long. However, I got to our apartment and began unpacking, and enjoying the air of a new country. It was hot already. I met my cousin, Vlada who's a true inspiration, always helpful when we come and visit. We had a good chat in the apartment, and that night I slept easy and deeply.
I've been catching buses on my own, which is a major achievement. I find it fun and exciting part of travelling, speaking to the locals, missing the bus, catching the wrong bus, and catching taxis.
I've been travelling into town to do lots of
, and browsing, in the centre of city Knez Mihailova. The Zara here is a good idea, I've found so many wonderful summer dresses, and its affordable and comfortable too. The main promenade walk is nice, and the shops along the walk are lovely, to the lingerie shops are purrrfect, the cutest sets and colours, I'm impressed by the styles and price. It is a great buy, and wearing the underwear feels great and looks even better.
Some of the beauty shops are amazing, I bought a good priced Elizabeth Arden Face Exfoliator, for 2,700 Dinara, approximately $38 Australian Dollars. A good cleanse and nice product to use, Thanks Belgrade you've been a friendly city. The lady at the cash register did not have all of the change to give back, and I have noticed that in a few places they don't give change back. So I'm finding myself telling the customer service representative, that I would like the exact and full amount of change.
There's a part of town called Zeleni Venac, off the main promenade in the city, it's a circular layout, lined with Cafes, and has a nice view and scene. I went for wine and Crepes with Aerokrem, a form of Nutella, and hazelnuts inside, a traditional Serbian dessert, with relatives and we caught up over chats and bonding! It's a beautiful restaurant vibe here, when you're with the right people, you talk, observe, have fun, enjoy, laugh, and eat! The Cevapi inside a Lepenja (a traditional bread roll), with Kajmak, another traditional dish, and the Capricciosa Pizza, have been my favourite meals.
When its summer and it's hot, it's a nice idea to go to Lake Ada, and chill by the water in a European "Cabana"Style, trendy and cosy lounge chairs, where if you find a nice waiter, he puts the umbrella up, and serves you cocktails and salad. I had a swim, which was refreshing. Although Ada can sometimes look and be perceived ordinary, and not every tourists cup of tea, I truly enjoy getting into the spirit of Lake Ada, and its Serbian style theme. The people are fun to be around, enjoy themselves, and have lovely manners and good looks too.
Belgrade is such a vibe, its a fun place to travel and nice to go out. The food, wine and shopping is amongst my favourite things here, (for now). In addition, the music, the people, and the love!
